COOKING: Skillet Bread, Sourdough, and Vinegar Pie by Loretta Frances Ichord (BCL); Forty-Niners and What They Ate: Chapter 3: Sourdough Starter and Sourdough Flapjacks and Chapter 4: Cornish Pastries

COOKING:  Gold Miner’s Lunch
Pork and Beans
Rye-N-Injun Bread or Wheat-N-Injun Bread
Beef Jerky
And a taste of coffee to wash it down!

COOKING: Gold Rush Bars
1 pkg knox gelatin
1-3/4 cup warm milk
1 pkg cook & serve vanilla pudding
1 pkg butterscotch chips

Heat gelatin and milk and stir until gelatin is dissolved. Blend in pudding mix. Bring to a boil and stir wile boiling for 3 minutes. Add chips and stir until melted. Pour mixture into a greased (with cooking spray) loaf dish or mini bread pans and chip thoroughly. Invert dish onto a serving platter. Optional: Write “14 K Gold” on top with chocolate syrup.
